Two Basic Options
The two most common options in missing tooth treatment are dental bridges and implant treatment. Both methods have their own unique advantages and limitations.
Dental Bridge
Advantages
- Shorter treatment time (1-2 weeks)
- No surgical procedure required
- More economical compared to implants
Disadvantages
- Requires cutting of adjacent healthy teeth
- Bone resorption continues underneath
- Cleaning under the bridge is more difficult
- If there is a problem with the supporting teeth, the entire bridge is affected
Dental Implant
Advantages
- Adjacent teeth are not touched
- Prevents bone loss
- Natural tooth feel and appearance
- Longer lifespan (lifetime with proper care)
Disadvantages
- Requires surgical procedure
- 3-6 months healing period
- Higher initial cost
Expert Opinion
If the general health condition and bone structure are suitable, implants are more advantageous in the long term. However, each case has its own unique conditions. The right decision should be made together with your doctor.
