Lamina veneer are thin porcelain sheets bonded to the front surface of the teeth. These coverings, with a thickness ranging from 0.3 to 0.7 mm, idealize the color, shape, and size of the teeth. Since it requires minimal tooth reduction, it is a conservative treatment method.
In the first session, digital impressions and smile design are performed. After patient approval, the teeth are prepared minimally (0.3-0.5 mm) and temporary laminates are placed. Porcelain laminates prepared in the laboratory are bonded to the teeth with a special adhesive in the second session.
The entire process is usually completed within 5-7 days. With proper care, laminates can be used for 15-20 years.
Lamina requires minimal tooth reduction, while zirconium offers a more comprehensive covering. Lamina is preferred only for front surface aesthetics, whereas zirconium may be more suitable for teeth with structural damage or exposed to chewing forces. The correct choice should be made with the evaluation of a physician.
