Clear aligner treatment begins with an orthodontist's evaluation. Intraoral examination, panoramic X-ray, and 3D scanning determine whether the case is suitable for clear aligner treatment.
A 3D model of the teeth is created using an intraoral scanner. All tooth movements from the start to the end of the treatment are simulated with special software. The patient can see the treatment outcome in advance.
All aligners to be used throughout the treatment are produced according to the approved plan. Each aligner moves the teeth 0.25-0.3 mm towards the next stage.
Small tooth-colored composite holders (attachments) are bonded to some teeth. These ensure the aligner moves the tooth in the correct direction.
Each set of aligners is worn for 1-2 weeks, then switched to the next. They must be worn at least 22 hours a day. They are only removed while eating and brushing.
Check-up examinations are done every 4-6 weeks. At the end of the treatment, a retainer is applied for retention.
It varies between 6 months for mild cases and 12-18 months for moderate cases.
